Benefits you receive from a professional organization

There are many professional organizations for criminal justice professionals. The Colorado Police Protective Association (Links to an external site.)  and the International Police Association (Links to an external site.)    (Links to an external site.) are two of many of these.

Oftentimes, these organizations provide opportunities for training, grants, and networking, among others.

Describe the benefits you receive from a professional organization of which you are a member. If you are not a member of a professional organization, research one in your area that pertains to your intended career path. What benefits do you perceive can be gained by active membership?  Are students allowed to join the organization, and if so, what are the benefits for students (i.e. internships, scholarships)?
