The gool of giving back blows is to force the object out of the airway. To give back
blows position yourself to the side and slightly behind the person.
Bend at the person at the waist that his upper body is as parallel to the ground. Strike
the person between the shoulder blades with the heel of your hand.
Give 5 back blows. Reposition yourself to stand with one foot in front of the other
placing your front foot in between the persons feet. Find his naval with
2fingers from one hand with other hand make a fist. Cover the fist with other hand.Give
5 abdominal thrust pulling inward and upward. Each thrust should
be separate from the others. For child you might need to kneel in order to give effective
back blows and abdominal thrust.
If the choking infant becomes unresponsive Fallow the same steps as would, with 2
slight difference. First to use the encircling thumbs technique when
giving 30 chest compression. If you see an object in the infant mouth use your pinky
instead of a larger finger to do finger sweep. Only do sweep if see object.

Hello class.
Back blows and abdominal thrusts for adults and children- Caring for a responsive
choking adult or child consists of 5 back blows followed by 5 abdominal thrusts. The
techniques for a child are very similar to the adults’ techniques with a mere
difference. To perform back blows, first, we should position ourselves to the sight
and slightly behind the choking adult person. We will need to kneel behind the child in
order to provide effective back blows and abdominal thrusts( First of all, it is important
to obtain consent from a parent or guardian. If they are not available, consent is
applied). Afterward, we should place one arm diagonally across the adult’s/child’s chest
and bend him at the waist so that his upper body is as parallel to the ground as
possible. This position boosts remove the object and lets us brace ourselves if the victim
becomes unresponsive. In this case, we should firmly strike the victim between the
shoulder blades with the heel of our hand. Then we should give 5 back blows. Followed
by back blows, if the victim is unable to cough or speak, we should give abdominal
thrusts. First, we should find the person’s navel with our two fingers. Afterward, we are
supposed to move behind the victim and place our front foot between the victim’s feet
with our knees slightly bent to provide balance and stability. With our other hand, we
should make a fist and place our thumb side against the victim’s stomach above our
fingers. And last but not least, we should take our first hand and cover our fist with that
hand. Then we should pull inward and upward to provide the victim with 5 abdominal
thrusts not using full force. We should continue giving sets of 5 back blows and 5
abdominal thrusts until we notice the victim starting to cough or speak.
Caring for a responsive choking infant again consists of 5 back blows and 5 chest
thrusts. To perform black blows, we should place the infant’s back along our forearm
cradling the back of the infant’s head with our hand. Afterward, we should place our
forearm on the infant’s front, supporting the baby’s jaw with our thumb and fingers (we
should not cover the baby’s face). Then we should hold the infant in a face-down
position along our forearm utilizing our thigh for aid and keeping the infant’s head
lower than their body. It is crucial to make sure that our fingers are not blocking his
mouth. Using the heel of our hand, we should give a back blow between the infant’s
shoulder blades. We are supposed to keep our fingers up to avoid hitting the infant’s
head or neck. We should give 5 back blows, each one separate from the others. After it,
if the infant is still unable to cry or cough, we should give chest thrusts. We should
position the baby between our forearms, support the head and neck and turn the infant
face-up. Then we should lower the infant onto our thigh with their head lower than their
chest. Then we should place two fingers in the center of the infant’s chest, blow the
nipple line, and give 5 quick chest thrusts about 1½ inches deep. We should let the
chest return to its normal position keeping our fingers in contact with the chest. We will
need to go on giving sets of 5 back blows and 5 chest thrusts unless the infant coughs
or cries. If the choking infant becomes unresponsive, we should do the same activities as
with an unresponsive adult or child with 2 differences; we should use the encircling
thumbs technique when giving 30 chest compressions, and if we notice an object in the
infant’s mouth, we should use our pinky to do a finger sweep.

Student # 1 lyudmila,
Choking can happen at any age but it is more common for infants and older adults. It is
ok when the choking person coughs or cries because it is a sign that they get air. A
person can choke when their airways are blacked. This does not allow them to get air so
they start choking. Some common causes of choking are willing something big,
laughing while chewing, and playing while there is food in the mouth. Signs of severe
choking are coughing, crying, clutching the throat with hands, making unusual noises,
panicking, and losing consciousness. It is important to pay attention and get the consent
of a person before doing anything. When there is an infant or a child choking you
should ask their parents or guardians for consent.
