UWG Jails and Prisons Discussion

For this discussion, we will focus on jails v prisons. As chapter 3 points out, that there is a vast difference between jails and prisons. They are governed by different law and levels of government. Follow the link here:

Then in no less than 400 words draft a discussion post in support of, or against the autonomy that duly elected sheriffs in running their jails as they see fit. Should they have to follow state law or federal law? If they are elected by the people, then are the sheriffs’ administrations of jails based on the publics’ wishes?
